Essential storage

Publishing Studio uses session and security cookies to sign editors in and protect forms. The public journal remembers your appearance choice in your browser’s local storage. That preference is used to keep light and dark mode consistent between visits.

Advertising

Google AdSense is enabled for eligible public journal pages. When advertising is enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage or similar technologies and process information such as your IP address, browser details and ad interactions to deliver, measure and, where permitted, personalize advertisements.

Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s advertising technologies.

Third-party vendors, including Google, can use advertising cookies to select ads based on earlier visits to this site and other websites. These cookies allow Google and its partners to provide personalized advertising where permitted. The Google consent message identifies the participating advertising vendors and the choices available to you.

Your choices

Where a consent message is shown, you can accept, reject or manage the choices it offers. When available, the “Privacy and cookie settings” control in an article’s footer reopens Google’s consent message. Your browser also provides controls for stored cookies and site data. Clearing site data may reset your appearance and consent preferences.

You can manage or opt out of Google’s personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. You can also explore participating third-party vendors’ choices through the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out service. These services describe the scope and limitations of their choices.

Operation and analytics

The hosting service may process request logs to operate and secure the website. A first-party collector measures page views, referring website domains, active reading time and reading progress across the portfolio and journal. It uses a random identifier for each page view to avoid counting the same view twice; it does not use analytics cookies, persistent visitor identifiers or store IP addresses. Referrer query strings are discarded. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control settings are respected. Raw page-view records are deleted after 90 days. The owner and AI connections explicitly granted analytics access can read aggregate reports; these reports do not identify individual visitors. Advertising reports, when ads are enabled, are provided separately through Google AdSense.

Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics

We use Microsoft Clarity across the public portfolio and journal to understand browsing behaviour through heatmaps and session replays. We also use Google Analytics to measure page views, traffic sources and engagement. These services process interaction, device and usage data. Studio, sign-in pages and article previews are excluded. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control preferences disable both services.

Both services start with analytics and advertising cookie storage denied. You can optionally allow analytics cookies below to connect activity across pages and visits. This choice does not authorize advertising cookies or change your Google advertising choices. See Microsoft’s privacy statement and Google’s privacy policy.

Analytics cookies are off by default.
